Today, Arkansans are being challenged to give back to local charitable organizations during the 12-hour ArkansasGives online giving event.

The giving event, sponsored by Arkansas Community Foundation, challenges all Arkansans to make a donation on a single day in recognition of the vital work our local charitable organizations do. Whether it’s feeding the hungry, caring for the elderly or mentoring our children, the work of Arkansas’s nonprofits affects every citizen and helps improve every community. ArkansasGives is a chance for our state to say thank you to the organizations.

Arkansas Gives 2017Between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., when Arkansans make a donation to the charities of their choice through the ArkansasGives website, their donations will be matched with bonus dollars; the more you give, the more bonus dollars your favorite charity will receive. Here’s how it works: Arkansas Community Foundation is providing a pool of $400,000 bonus dollars that will be shared proportionally among all participating nonprofits. If, for example, a nonprofit raises 1 percent of the total that comes in, the organization would receive 1 percent of the $400,000 bonus dollars.

First Security Bank is also providing additional cash prizes to the nonprofit organizations that raise the most money and recruit the most individual donors in their size categories.

In 2016, $4.6 million was distributed to nonprofits (including prizes and bonus dollars) through a total of 18,535 donations.

You can help grow the love for Arkansas’s nonprofit organizations by making a donation to the charity of your choice. ArkansasGives ends at 8 p.m. so make your donations now!
