During the month of April, nonprofits throughout Northwest Arkansas are working to raise awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter is giving the public multiple ways to make a difference:
1. The General Mills Social Media Challenge will be happening from April 1 to 30. Every share of any post on the NWA Children’s Shelter’s Facebook page generates a $5 donation up to $5,000.
2. You can also sign up to give a recurring gift by becoming a Sustaining Hope Donor.
3. Wear blue on April 28 and post a selfie using the hashtag #NWACSblueforHOPE to raise awareness of child abuse in Northwest Arkansas.
4. The public is also invited to attend the NWA Children’s Shelter’s open house on April 30 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County placed pinwheels at 18 locations throughout Benton County on March 31. Each pinwheel represents a confirmed case of child abuse in 2016.
The Children’s Safety Center promoted the cause by placing 500 pinwheels at five locations across Washington County for its Pinwheels for Prevention rally on April 3 and 4.
