In April 2012, Havenwood rolled out a campaign looking for sponsors to adopt rooms at their organization. When Havenwood opened its doors in 1993 to provide housing, life skills, and resources for single parents in need they launched their first ever room adoptions. Since 1993, there have never been any consistent sponsors to make the needed updates in rooms. This year Havenwood asked the community to take part in adopting a room to benefit the needs of a single parent and their children, and a commitment to keep up their sponsorship year after year.

Since April 2012, 11 out of 15 apartments have been adopted. This week teams began work, and work will continue on the different units throughout the summer months. Each apartment has its own unique needs and updates, but most groups will be helping paint, re-floor, decorate, and add some personal touch to each unit.

Room sponsors include: the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville, the First United Methodist Church in Rogers, Walmart’s Energy Division, Whitewave Foods, the Building Owners and Managers Association of Northwest Arkansas (BOMA), the Northwest Arkansas Apartment Association, Arvest Edge, and All Saints Episcopal Church.

Havenwood is still seeking four sponsors to adopt their remaining rooms. For more information, contact Rachel Cox at developmentdirector@nwahavenwood.org.
