Lowell, ARK. – United Way of Northwest Arkansas and Snickers Marathon Energy Bar are partnering for the second year in a row to host the 2010 Stuff the Bus school supply drive at Walmart supercenter locations throughout Northwest Arkansas.

This program seeks to ensure that all children have access to the school supplies that are on their back-to-school lists. It costs about $35-$50 for basic, expendable school supplies (those that need to be re-purchased every year), per child, which can put great stress on a low-income family’s tight budget.  To assist kids in getting ready for school and to ease that financial burden for parents, we bring the community together to help kids start school right. School buses are parked in front of local Wal-Mart stores and individuals who can are asked to buy an extra pack of pencils, paper, glue, crayons, etc. Last year, we were able to raise over 75,000 school supplies that were distributed through Northwest Arkansas school districts to students who needed them. This year, we know we can meet or exceed that number!
