Open Avenues Spring FlingOpen Avenues’ 17th annual Spring Fling is just around the corner.  Open Avenues is thrilled to announce this year’s Honorary Chairs are Brett Biggs, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Walmart International, and his wife, Kara.  Brett has been a part of the Walmart team in several capacities since 2000.  Brett graduated Summa Cum Laude from Harding University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and later received a MBA with Honors from Oklahoma State University. He serves in various advisory roles at Harding University and volunteers for many non-profit organizations in Northwest Arkansas.

Held the third week in May, the Spring Fling is Open Avenues’ signature event and the primary effort of establishing vital financial support for the organization, a job training organization for adults with disabilities. The individuals served by Open Avenues become more independent, more employable, and are active and productive members of the communities of Northwest Arkansas.

The event kicks-off with a golf scramble at Shadow Valley Country Club in Rogers on Friday, May 16.  Morning and afternoon flights are available for teams of four.  Prizes will be awarded in both flights for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, Hole-In-One, Longest Drive, and a Putting Contest.

The annual Spring Fling Luau will be held at the John Q Hammons Center in Rogers on Saturday, May 17; doors open at 6:30p.m. Open Avenues will recognize a client as the recipient of the Spirit Award, an award given to one client each year that embodies the ideals of Open Avenues.

Other highlights of the evening will include:

  • A live auction including a trip to Hawaii, dinner for eight at the home of Open Avenues Executive Director Brenda Neal, and a private Mexican Fiesta for 20 friends.
  • DJ, dancing and Photo booth with Dance Enhance.
  • Delicious dinner and drinks
  • A silent auction including hundreds of items available for bidding
