Name change to reflect growing community support services

Sunshine School & Development CenterThe new name will raise awareness of the many programs and services offered through “Sunshine School,” including programs designed for individuals with autism and the many adults with special needs receiving help by the organization’s growing community support services.

The name allows the school to honor its 55-year heritage while recognizing the growth they have had in community support services over the last 10 years. In addition, the new name represents the vision for the future which is to provide services so that all individuals will have the resources they need to reach their full potential as active members of the communities in which they live.

Everything the Sunshine School & Development Center does is about developing and enriching the lives of individuals and families through therapy, education and support. The new name helps to better align with their mission and the complete array of services offered at the Sunshine School. In addition, it allows for some exciting expansion opportunities for school-age children and beyond.

The core services remains about serving individuals with special needs from birth and throughout their lives. The Sunshine School impacts so many families and is a part of helping them reach their potential.

Since 1958, “Sunshine School” has served people in Northwest Arkansas who have developmental disabilities and those who are considered “at risk” for disabilities or delays.
