The Alzheimer’s Association Northwest Arkansas Memory Gala held a rare Tuesday night event on May 1 at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers. This year’s theme, This Is Our Time, focused on the Alzheimer’s epidemic that affects an estimated 5.4 million Americans, and is expected to reach more than 16-million Americans by mid-century. Proceeds from the Memory Gala will directly support critically-needed research for a cure, and the Alzheimer’s Association’s programs and services that are provided at no charge—including care consultations, caregiver counseling, 24-hour telephone helpline, support groups, information referral, education services and more. The event featured a cocktail hour, dinner and wine service, exciting raffle and live auction items, and a special recognition to the Walmart Foundation for their ongoing support of the Alzheimer’s Association community support programs.
