HWOA Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival

May 7, 2022

The Hispanic Women’s Organization of Arkansas (HWOA) is pleased to announce its 24th annual Cinco de Mayo Festival to be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Jones Center in Springdale.

Rich in tradition, this fun and festive celebration reflects the organization’s motto of “Celebrating Education, Culture and Community.” Proceeds from the festival benefit the HWOA Scholarship Fund. “The Cinco de Mayo Festival is an excellent opportunity for community interaction and a celebration of culture
and education,” said Margarita Solorzano, executive director of HWOA. “The festival not only
showcases Latino cultures but it also brings the community together in support of higher
education for Latino students.”

Since its inception in 2000, HWOA has awarded 529 scholarships to Hispanic students, with a
value ranging from $500 to $5,000 per scholarship, of which many recipients are first generation
college students. HWOA’s goal is to increase college enrollment opportunities for Hispanic
students. The scholarship award presentation will take place during the Festival at 6 p.m.

The Cinco de Mayo Festival is a community event, free to the public, with live music, traditional
folk dance performances from different countries, food, games, vendors, children’s activities,
Zumba, health fair and much more. The festival is family-oriented, giving local performers the
opportunity to showcase their diverse talents. Come have fun and support the HWOA
Scholarship Fund!
