SUMMARY:Center Court Tennis Doubles Tennis Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Center Court Tennis is hosting a doubles Tennis Tournament for adults of all levels Aug. 20-22 at Summerhill Tennis and Athletic Club. Center Court’s goal is to raise money to cover/eliminate registration fees for Athletes\, and to purchase necessary adaptive tennis equipment like sports wheelchairs. In addition to great doubles competition\, the tournament will host a Razorback Tennis Player exhibition at the player party on Saturday night. After the Hogs tear it up on the courts\, there will be a special appearance by some of the Center Court Athletes who will show off their adaptive skills. Food all weekend\, hydration\, T-shirts\, and goodie bags will all be awaiting the tournament registrants. There will also be a chance to buy tennis shot “mulligans” and a silent auction full of amazing items. The event is presented by Legacy National Bank and Summerhill Racquet Club. \nCenter Court Tennis is a nonprofit organization that focuses on the inclusion and celebration of God’s unique design for every individual. The nonprofit is excited to bring an adaptive\, play-based tennis curriculum to Athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities in Northwest Arkansas. DESCRIPTION:***RESCHEDULED TO TO VIRTUAL EVENT ENDING ON AUG. 10*** – Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic\, the United Way of Northwest Arkansas will hold the annual Fill the Bus Event in a 100% virtual format starting immediately and wrapping up Aug. 10. Fill the Bus is an initiative in partnership with Walmart and sponsored by BIC\, Crayola\, and Coca-Cola\, providing school supplies to disadvantaged children that helps to create a road map to prosperity for children in Northwest Arkansas. \nThrough the partnership with Walmart\, the community can purchase school supplies through the “Walmart Registry for Good” and the items ship directly to the United Way of NWA office. The supplies will be distributed to 15 local school districts as the first day of the new school year approaches. While school will look different for many in our area\, the students need us more than ever. A link to the registry to donate virtually is available on the United Way of NWA website at unitedwaynwa.org/bus. For more than a decade\, the annual Fill the Bus school supply drive has been providing Northwest Arkansas children with tools to help them get a head start on the school year and United Way of NWA is committed to providing for students in need even through a pandemic.
