The 2013 3rd Friday series in Downtown Rogers will kick off on May 17 with a community shrimp boil and live music on the Frisco Stage from 5-9 p.m., presented by Premium Brands NWA and Miller Lite. Activities will be located at Frisco Park, located at First and Walnut streets.

This first-annual, best-ever Shrimp Boil will take place in the parking lot next to the Frisco Stage. The traditional shrimp boil will include fresh shrimp, corn, Andouille sausage and potatoes, served with choice of iced tea or bottled water for $12 per person. A hot dog, corn and drink will be sold for $4 per person. Only 200 tickets for the Shrimp Boil will be sold, and they are available in advance at www.MainStreetRogers.com. A beer garden will also be offered at this year’s events.

Ballet Westside will perform on the Frisco Stage at 5:30 p.m., followed by the award-winning band, “Leah & the Mojo Doctors” from 6-9 p.m. Enjoy blues and rock & roll from this energetic five-member band from Fayetteville.

Downtown Rogers shops, clubs and restaurants will be open late, offering sales, specials and treats. A list of activities will be updated at www.MainStreetRogers.com.

Family fun in the park will include baggo, pony rides, inflatables and a climbing wall and snowcones along with local artists and nonprofit displays.

Volunteers will be in the downtown area to help visitors take the new QR code walking tour featuring 15 historic buildings. The tour, designed by Benton County School of the Arts freshman Cole Golden Hester, allows anyone with a smart phone to scan the QR code to find historical details and photos of each building.

Upcoming 3rd Fridays will include a “Fresh Talent Showcase” on June 21, “Fine Arts in the Park” on July 19, featuring local food, art, wine and beer, and “Bikes, Blues & BBQ” on Sept. 20.

Main Street Rogers, Inc. is hosting the event, with support from Sam’s Club and the Rogers Convention and Visitors Bureau.
