touch a truckThe Junior League of Northwest Arkansas announces they are hosting their 8th Annual Touch-a-Truck event May 3, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the JC Penny’s parking lot near Malco Theatre at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers. Rain date is May 17. As always, this springtime family festival will be kid-friendly and full-on-fun for all ages.

This year’s Touch-a-Truck will feature dozens of vehicles that kids (and kids-at-heart) can explore. Vehicles you can expect to see include construction equipment, safety vehicles, motorcycles, monster trucks, boats, tractors and much more.  There will also be special appearances by local dance teams, Irish dancers, sports teams, mascots, costumed characters,  fingernail painters, building projects, BB gun target practice, just to name a few.

In addition to equipment, vehicles, and boats, there will be local food trucks that will offer lunch, refreshments, ice cream and all the tasty treats you’d expect to find at a family-fun event. In addition, we will have a concession stand available offering light refreshments such as water, soda, and chips. In fact, families are welcome to host children’s birthday parties during the event.

“Our committee has been working diligently to ensure that there are plenty of activities and entertainment for the entire family.  “We are very excited to share this with the community as well as our own families,” says Touch-a-Truck Committee Chair, Sarah Lowrance. “Touch-a-Truck is an incredibly fun event for the entire family, and we are very excited about the location at the Promenade as well as many new vehicles and activities for kids of all ages!”

Tickets are just $5 each or $20 per family.  Guests can purchase their tickets online through the Junior League’s website www.JuniorLeagueNWA.org or at the event.

With more than 3,000 in attendance each year, the Junior League’s Touch-a-Truck raises more than $10,000 for the League’s charitable causes.  Proceeds assist the League with its mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
