NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) announced today that the Eagles will be competing in NJCAA track in the spring of 2025, and soccer will be coming in the fall of 2026. Both sports will include men’s and women’s teams. NWACC currently competes in NJCAA cross country and esports.

“I am thrilled to be able to announce the path forward for athletics at NWACC,” said Athletic Director Brooke Brewer. “I am thankful that the NWACC administration and Board of Trustees see the immense value that having a robust athletic program will bring to the student experience. Today is a huge victory for NWACC and the entire Northwest Arkansas community.”

The college announced the vision for the future of athletics after an extensive study in consultation with the PICTOR Group, experts in the field of intercollegiate athletics.

“NWACC is known for its quality and commitment to excellence,” said NWACC President Dr. Dennis C. Rittle. “That’s true in our academics and how we serve our students. It is also true in our athletic programs. It’s an exciting day for the NWACC Eagles as we prepare to Fly Forward into these new endeavors. Go Eagles!”

Coach Josphat Boit, an All American runner at the University of Arkansas, has led the men’s and women’s cross country teams since the first season in 2021. Both teams won the Region 2 championship in 2023 and competed at nationals. Coach Boit will also serve as head coach for the track teams.

“It’s an honor to lead the NWACC Eagles cross country and track teams,” said Coach Boit. “We’ve seen great success so far with our student-athletes, and we are ready to take NWACC athletics to the next level. The future of Eagles Athletics is bright.”

Phase One of the college’s plan for athletics includes baseball and softball joining the lineup before 2030, pending the success of the track and soccer programs.
