ROGERS, Ark., (August 26, 2009) — The Ozark affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization raised nearly $60,000 during its 2009 Showcase of Homes.

Executive director Alison Levin announced the official total of $59,073 during a reception this morning at Shadow Valley Country Club in Rogers. This total is an increase from the $36, 831 the organization raised in 2008.

The fundraiser took place during the first two weekends of May this year. The second annual Shadow Valley Showcase of Homes featured seven fully furnished and decorated homes. In addition to the showcase of homes created by local builders, the fundraiser also included the Swing for the Cure golf tournament, Taste of Northwest Arkansas and a junior tennis night.

The third annual Shadow Valley Showcase of Homes is scheduled for May 7-9 and May 14-16, 2010. The golf tournament will be May 8, 2010.

The Ozark affiliate has an eight county service area that is made up of Benton, Boone, Carroll, Crawford, Madison, Newton, Sebastian and Washington counties. Annually, up to 75 percent of the net income remains in the Ozark affiliate service are to fund local breast health education, screening and treatment projects. A minimum of 25 percent supports the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure grant programs. This year $750,000 has been granted to 13 agencies.
