FAYETTEVILLE—Domestic violence survivors had something to smile about when Jan Diederich of Friday’s Flowers & Gifts, a part of
Teleflora’s Arkansas unit, donated 20 floral arrangements and 30 stuffed animals to domestic violence survivors at Peace at Home
Family Shelter on July 22. The donation was part of Teleflora’s 2009 Make Someone Smile ® week.

“These gifts were a great way to brighten a woman’s day,” said Amy Michaud, Development Director for Peace at Home Family Shelter. “When women come to our shelter they are going through a difficult transitional period. At this time, every little thing counts, whether it be a beautiful floral arrangement or a cute, stuffed animal. These things really do make a difference.”

Since 2000, Teleflora has delivered 35,000 floral arrangements in 144 cities thanks to the help of 2,000 florists who donated their
time. Teleflora works with local wholesalers and growers to secure flower donations in mugs to deliver to local hospitals, charities,
and organizations such as Peace at Home. They have delivered 40,000 of their keepsake Be Happy ® mugs.

Established in 1977, Peace at Home Family Shelter is Arkansas’ premiere shelter for women and children who have survived domestic
violence. The shelter recently opened its new Donald W. Reynolds facility, which can house up to 30 women and children. The shelter currently operates at an 80 percent success rate.
