The United Way of NWA is recruiting volunteer income tax preparers. You do not need to be an accountant or have a finance background to participate. Training is free and flexible with online classes, a couple Saturdays a month, or the opportunity to become advanced in only two weeks! A little time can do a lot. In one volunteer hour, you can help return $1,300 to a hardworking family. On one Saturday of volunteering, you can return $5,200 to your community.

There are volunteer opportunities throughout Northwest Arkansas!

For those not interested in serving as a tax preparer, there are also non tax-oriented volunteer positions, including client greeter/screener roles, site assistants, site leaders, translators, financial resource specialists and IT managers. Volunteers who speak Spanish and Marshallese are also greatly needed.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites help low and middle-income families prepare their income tax forms and other tax credits while avoiding fees associated with commercial preparers. By becoming a VITA volunteer you are helping these hard-working families file returns to help fix their cars, pay for medical bills and support their families.
