BENTONVILLE Ark., June 17, 2010– On Friday, June 18, 2010, at 10 a.m., the Walmart Foundation will present the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County with a $342,500 grant in front of the Walmart Home Office in Bentonville.
The Boys & Girls Club of Benton County is proud to announce that they are the recipient of a grant recently provided by the Walmart Foundation. Jacob Huston, Chief Professional Officer says, “We are incredibly thankful for the continued support from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation. Their support enables the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County to positively impact the lives of thousands of local children in after-school and summer youth development programs.”
Hutson also explains that in 2009, it cost more than $2 million annually to operate the four Boys & Girls Club units. Due to the rapid growth in Northwest Arkansas, club membership has increased drastically in the last five years.
In 2009, the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County served nearly 3,500 children at four locations through after-school, intercession and summer programs. The programs offered are designed for character and leadership development as well as education and career development and activities promoting health and life skills, the Arts, sports, fitness and recreation. The club also served over 1,100 children Club sponsored basketball, volleyball and football athletic programs.
