Event officials for the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G announce today an increased prize purse for the 2020 tournament. The purse for the #NWAChampionship has been raised to $2.3 million, up $300,000 from the 2019 event. With this increased prize fund, the event solidifies its place as one of the top three highest paying non-major events on the 2020 LPGA Tour schedule. The 14th annual #NWAChampionship will be held Aug. 24-30, 2020 at Pinnacle Country Club, featuring 156 of the world’s best female golfers.

“The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G offers a platform of empowerment that we are proud to support, from the talented female athletes of the LPGA Tour to business leaders in the NW Arkansas community,” stated Donna Morris, Walmart Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer. “In partnership with Procter & Gamble, we are pleased to raise the tournament purse and continue our commitment to providing greater opportunities for women.”

“One of the core missions of Procter & Gamble is to empower women and young girls,” said Mindy Sherwood, President, Procter & Gamble Walmart Global Customer Team. “Through the increased purse and tournament week events such as Always Live #LikeAGirl Day, P&G is proud to help inspire women and girls to dream big, whether they’re breaking barriers on the golf course or in the workplace.”

With the increased prize fund, the #NWAChampionship joins the top three highest paying non-major events on the 2020 schedule, falling only behind the CME Group Tour Championship and CP Women’s Open. The champion of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G will now receive a $345,000 payout, up $45,000 from 2019.

“I am so appreciative to Walmart and Procter & Gamble for their investment in the women’s game and to a tournament that is so special to me,” stated Stacy Lewis, former Arkansas Razorback and current LPGA Professional. “There is a significant gap between prize money in men’s and women’s golf. With the support of partners like Walmart and P&G, we can continue to narrow the pay gap and showcase the importance of equality within the sport.”
