Gift will support three organizations throughout Northwest Arkansas

ROGERS, Ark., (March 24, 2008) – Organizations in the Rogers area will have more support to continue providing services thanks to the Walton Family Foundation. Gifts were announced Monday at the annual donation lunch at Arvest Bank in Rogers. Rob Brothers, Arvest Bank, president was on hand as a representative of the foundation to present $7,500 total donations to three organizations. The checks for $2,500 each went to Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, Ozark Natural Science Center, and Rebuilding Together Northwest Arkansas.

The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank distributes food in Benton, Washington and Madison counties. The goal of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank to make sure that all who are facing or experiencing hunger have access to nutritious food.

“We’re looking forward to another successful year thanks in part to the Walton Family Foundation,” Marge Wolf, executive director, said. “This donation is a huge help in our efforts to fight hunger in the region.”

Dedicated to providing innovative field science programs for learners of all ages, the Ozark Natural Science Center in Huntsville has modern education laboratory, comfortable lodging, dining services, campfire pavilion and an extensive trail system.

Jenny Harmon, executive director said, “I’m proud to accept this donation on behalf of the Ozark Natural Science Center. These funds will help us keep the center clean and safe for summer camps and school programs.”

Rebuilding Together Northwest Arkansas helps people in Benton and Washington counties who have worked their whole lives to buy a home, and then can’t find the money to maintain it. The homeowners, their family and friends always work alongside our volunteers.

“The foundation’s generosity will allow us to support our mission of keeping our low-income neighbors safe, warm and dry by rehabilitating their homes,” Jan Skopecek, executive director of Rebuilding Together Northwest Arkansas said. “We are thrilled to use these funds to help with our Rebuilding Day on April 18.”

“We are pleased to present these donations on behalf of the Walton Family Foundation to support three great organizations,” Brothers said. “Each year we host the Walton Family Foundation Donation Luncheon to express our appreciation of organizations that continually invest in our community.”
